Breast cancer occurs mostly in women, but even men can have breast cancer. It is one  of the commonest type of cancer in the world. The chances of someone having breast cancer increases with age and in case someone else in the family has breast cancer or even other types of cancer.

They present with any lump or swelling in the breast. Anyone having a lump or swelling in breast should meet a doctor. On the advice of doctor they should get certain tests like mammography or biopsy done . Mammography is similar to getting an Xray . In biopsy a small needle is inserted in the breast and a small piece of breast is studied under microscope. She may have to undergo CT scan or PET scan.

On the basis of these tests the stage of cancer is decided . There are four stages , Stage I , II , III , IV. Stage IV being the worst where the disease has spread to other parts of the body .

Treatment of breast cancer.

The treatment of breast cancer depends upon the stage of the disease . Stage I is normally treated with surgery , stage II and III are treated with surgery , Chemotherapy and Radiation . Stage IV disease is generally treated with chemotherapy .

Chemotherapy  drug is given in the form of  injections in veins .In radiotherapy the patient is treated with rays.
