What is Chemotherapy ?
Chemotherapy are drugs given to cure cancer, to reduce the chance of cancer coming back or to shrink cancer and prolong life.
Chemotherapy is given in cycles (i.e.) there is gap in the treatment of generally weeks before exhibiting the patient to next cycle. This gap is given to allow time for recovery of patients from previous dose.
Chemotherapy drugs are very potent and hence damage healthy cells and can cause some side effect like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, poor appetite, mouth sores, changes in the way food tastes, infection, hair loss. However, with newer more targeted therapies these side effects have been minimized.
